Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Rehoboth Beach, DE

Moving Out Of State

I am shocked by all the great reviews. This was hands down the worst experience of my life and was filled with many objective statements that ended up being false. The move took significantly longer than originally anticipated. Once the payment was started, the effort was minimal. We were told that a truck was ready and a family who was military was actually headed out to the same part of the country. I have no idea if it was true or not. I just know all our items were placed on a truck for them to just sit there for days and days. Maybe that family did have their items on there too. I have no idea. Calls and messages were left with no response. At one point, I called from another number right after I called and it was picked up even though my original was not. My calls were being screened. I have messages saying items would be delivered by a certain date and then never happened. The one delivery guy did not speak English and made this process of unloading extremely difficult. He did seem to speak money though out of all the things saying we had to pay even more money after an already agreed upon amount. I could not recommend this in any sort of good conscience. This has to be one of the worst experiences of my life. Stay away!

Long-distance move from Midland, TX to Nokomis, FL

Don't do it!

Hook and bait moving brokers; your fee to QME is for them to subcontract you to subpar movers that won't accommodate your estimate. You'll pay thousands more. It's been over 4 months and I still haven't gotten the items the movers took. I've had to file a police report and submit to my insurance company. Horrible violating and emotionally devastating experience. QME hasn't returned any of my emails since 8/4/23 either. Worst experience ever.

Long-distance move from Orlando, FL to Charlotte, NC

Moved from Florida to North Carolina

The staff was amazing! Everything went very well with my move. All of my belongings were packed accordingly and nothing was broken or damaged during the move. They were also on time, which seemed unbelievable since my address is very hard to find. I explained to the lady on the phone that my home is actually hard to locate with the GPS directions since it is off into a wooded area, but the truck was actually 30 minutes earlier than whatI had been expecting. A special thanks to Brooke who was very professional in her role. In the future, I would definitely use this company again and would recommend them to anyone. Thank you for making what I thought was impossible, possible.

Long-distance move from Johnson City, TN to Keystone Heights, FL

Beware of these scammers!!

Not sure how anyone has rated this company well. They completely took advantage of me every step of the way. The only time I’ve been able to be in contact with them is when they wanted money.

I wanted to make sure that I posted about my terrible experience with Quality Moving Experts so that I can save someone for making the same mistake that I did.

I had signed up on a website for estimates for moving from TN to FL, and they reached out to me to offer their services. The lady I spoke with was extremely pushy, and they acted as if they were doing me a huge favor. I was suckered into their promises, and my initial quote for moving was about $2000.

I went through all of the belongings I would be moving, measured them to get an accurate inventory, and once I submitted that, my quote had jumped to over $4000. This new quote was given to me three days before I was moving, which was l not enough time to find another company, so they knew they had me over a barrel.

When the movers showed up, it was a company called InstaMovers out of Alabama. They told me the brokerage company (Quality Moving Experts) had way under-quoted me for the cost per cubic feet, and by the end of the day when my belongings were loaded, my new total had grown to over $6000. The movers also told me that the brokerage company does this regularly, and they were very used to having to significantly increase charges upon arrival.

I was told when signing up with Quality Moving that I could give them one week notice for when I was ready to have my belongings delivered; I found that this was not the case either. InstaMovers told me they could not give a window of time of when they could deliver my things. They said they would let me know when my stuff could be loaded on the truck from their warehouse. I emailed and called them several times to find out more information, and the best I got was that they would give me a 24-hr deliver window after the undetermined time it took to get my belongings loaded to the truck. I received a call two weeks later on a Sunday night stating that the movers would arrive with my belongings at 7 or 8 AM the following morning. I told the guy I spoke with that I would not have a way to get the remaining amount of money I owed- which they wanted in cash- by that time Monday morning and he said they could not unload the truck it until they had cash in hand. I had just driven from Tennessee to Florida and did not want to carry that amount of cash on me. The moving truck arrived at 8 AM and sat on the street outside of my home until 9 AM without any communication. At 9 AM the driver came to the door and demanded his money so they could begin unloading. I had to leave my home to go get the money after waiting on them an hour to come to my door, so they charge me an extra $200. Then they charged me an $175 because they said they “could not” pull into my driveway with the truck, although there was plenty of room as my driveway makes a U through our front yard. Then they charged me an additional $250 for a “bulk carry fee” for a large buffet table I had. And because I wasn’t able to get cash with the less than 24 hours notice I was provided, they charge me $275 to put my remaining balance on a credit card. At the end of the transaction, the moving ended up costing me over $8000.

The movers did not deliver on there promise to set my furniture back up properly. They left my dining room table in pieces, my couch in pieces thrown on top of one another, my mattress is still wrapped in plastic with the beds disassembled, and too many items to name that were completely broken. They dropped my grill in the backyard and dented it, and my workout bench was missing a foot so it is no longer usable. I was told to contact the moving company and they would replace it, but at this point I have reached out through phone calls, leaving voicemails, and sending multiple emails with no response from Quality Moving Experts or Precise Moving. They have made zero effort to make anything right or replace any of my broken items.

Please take my long story and horrible experience as a warning to avoid Quality Moving Experts and Precise Moving and Storage LLC at all costs! I have never been treated this horribly was customer service in my life, and I’m out $8000.

Official company response

First, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience that the customer may have experienced. It is never our intention for our customers to be less than satisfied with our services. Your original booking for move was on 9/4/20 with your representative and you were happy with all the services we provided, including the additional breakdown that you requested after your move was secured. Your representative also walked you through the whole binding estimate and went over every detail about what factors may come into play during your pick up and delivery such as Long carry, stairs, shuttle truck, and packing of delicate items. The pick up you requested was set for 9/14-9/16 with an estimated 491 cubic feet based on the inventory that you provided us.

On the 9/10/20 before your quality assurance (QA) call you informed us that the closing of the house fell through. Normally there are date change fees if you need to change your dates within 5 business days of your first available pick up day (FADD), but we understood that it was out of your control. So we worked with you to place the move on hold with no additional cost to help you through the difficult time you were experiencing.

On 9/29/20 you had informed us that the house did in fact have a new closing date of 10/14/20, at that time we re-activated your move and set a new pick up window for 10/11-10/13 which you were happy with to ensure everything was out of the house before the closing on the 14th. We then started the process again and set up a new QA for your move to ensure that nothing has changed with your inventory. At that time you did add additional items to your inventory that we already had listed, and your cubic space reservation went from 491cf to 619cf of space needed based on the items that you told us needed to be moved. Again, we can only account for what needs to be loaded based on the list of items that you provide us. Please keep in mind that anything and everything that takes up space on the truck needs to be accounted for regardless of the significant size it is.

Then on 10/10 our customer service team reached out to you and provided you with pick up information for your move of 10/13/20 9am-3pm both verbally and in email form with additional information should you have any issues with additional charges or additional items that may not be accounted for. However you did not reach out to us at the time of pick up or after pick up.

After that call we did not hear anything from you and knew you had 30 days of storage listed on your estimate. If there was a problem at pick up we inform all our clients to reach out to us directly regardless of the time it is so that we may assist on your behalf to ensure all the paperwork is complete, and you understand what the additional charges if any would be. That is what you hire us for, to be your liaison.

On 11/13/20 the carrier sent over the paperwork for your move and informed us that everything had been loaded and was in transit to your new location for delivery. The carrier couldn’t make contact with you and asked for our assistance in the matter. Customer service reached out to you and made contact to update you with that information.

After delivery of your belongings we still did not hear anything from you, till you began posting reviews from your experience, and not giving us the opportunity to work with you to resolve the situation first. How is that fair to not allow us to do our job and assist you with all the matters you said you had? As soon as we were made aware of the situations we were able to start the process, such as providing you with claims information, go back over your paperwork where we did find out that you added additional items to your inventory list which added to the cost of your move.

Again we do apologize for the bad experience you had, but again you didn’t use us to your advantage to help you through the process. And this is definitely one of those situations that would have turned out differently if you had simply called us during pick up, and delivery. We provide ALL clients with two forms of contact at booking, during verification, and pick up, all are made verbally and in email form as well. Sincerely Quality Moving Experts

Long-distance move from Minneapolis, MN to Fort Worth, TX

Worst experience ??

Run away from this sketchy company. They wanted to charge me over 40% of the deposit after I canceled my reservation the same day after they changed the price twice on me for adding some items I forgot to mention before. I had to dispute the charges with my credit card company after they tried to make me sign a non disparagement agreement, meaning not to review them on social media in a negative way. They shouldn't be in business at all, and Google should investigate their ratings and reviews. Because all the recent 5 star reviews you see on Google are not from actual customers. They're either from their employees or paid bots.

Long-distance move from Newark, OH to Waldron, AR

Worst experience ever

Price went up $900 even after I removed items from quote. Took over a month to get furniture. Could not communicate with movers because they spoke little English. Called this company six times to find my furniture but received no useful info. When they wanted me to sign contract, I was told they had a truck going in that direction anyway. When living in a hotel for a month while trying to find our furniture, I was told they couldn't find a driver to go to our area. I will never use again.

Total scam

Absolutely worst company I have ever dealt with. They tried to hide the fact that they are a broker to get me to sign then booked the most unprofessional movers who showed up late in a rented budget truck and were extremely rude besides. They refused to give me paperwork to sign stating final costs, intentionally kept switching languages hoping I wouldn’t understand, wanted to load my things then quote me a price, no one was available on their emergency contact when I needed help, couldn’t tell me an estimated delivery date, couldn’t tell me where my things would be stored in the meantime. Needless to say I didn’t let them take my items. They ruined my move and even though I’ve already paid over $600 as a “deposit” all they offered to refund me is $133 and they want me to sign a settlement document besides. This company is a joke. I would never recommend doing business with them. They deserve zero stars. Here are some things I was told:

“We have a truck already scheduled going that way with room because someone canceled last minute”

“Don’t answer phone calls from any other moving companies”

“Don’t go and look us up online”

“Another moving company is trying to ruin us and is posting the bad reviews”

“No we don’t know who your mover will be we are still scheduling it”

“What you’re paying is a deposit for the move, not a one time broker fee for arranging it”

“Let’s load everything on the truck then I’ll give you a price”

“I have no idea when a delivery date will be or where your things will be stored, someone will contact you”

Worst company I’ve ever dealt with, do not book your move with these people.

Long-distance move from Westminster, CO to New Port Richey, FL

Worst experience ever

We had a bid in for another company and got a call from this company which bid low. We knew it would cost more because we hadn’t finished packing and our timeline was changed due to the contract on our house we were selling fell through twice. When we actually had a date, the movers charged us 200 more but I understood because we had changed it. What they don’t tell you is that the actual cost is double. They refused to take my husband’s commercial toolbox so we had to rent a UHaul which added another 1,000.00 to the cost. What they don’t warn you is that you need to pack enough items to get you through until they decide to deliver. This is a broker and you have no choice of actual movers. The customer service is horrible- they don’t return calls or emails- I have to constantly call them. We moved into our home on August 27th and it is now 2 months later. The moving company has been to Florida several times in that time period but our move has not been delivered nor do we have an estimate of when it will be. I cannot order my items to be picked up and shipped from another mover because we have no idea where our stuff is. We have been told to contact the mover directly but they don’t answer my calls either and I feel if I have given (QME) them money as a broker, this should be their job. You don’t get the actual contract to review until your items are loaded and when we complained, we were told that we would still have to pay the moving company to load and unload our items along with trying to find a moving company the same day. Quality Moving Experts does not allow for us to speak with the owner (he is a silent owner) and Spartan Moving does not return my calls. I have been told 3 times that my items should be delivered within a week and 3 times they have apologized and said my items were not picked up. They are not forthcoming and do not communicate. We are now well over the 30 business days, and I have no idea the condition of my items. I have complained to BBB, Dept of Transportation and have placed a complaint with the Attorney General and have been told that there are multiple complaints with both Quality Moving Experts and with Spartan Moving. They should not be able to continue poor business practices until they resolve the issues at hand.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $9800

Official company response

First, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience that the customer may have experienced. It is never our intention for our customers to be less than satisfied with our services. We are a licensed and bonded interstate broker with the Department of Transportation (DOT) and that is listed in our binding estimate and on our website. We partner with carriers across the United States that are also licensed and insured to facilitate your move. Carriers are truck drivers, and they depend on brokers to help with the advertising, marketing, booking, and customer service. I have reviewed your file and talked with the carrier directly, and yes we agree that your delivery window is unacceptable. We have taken additional measures to ensure that doesn’t happen again to another one of our clients. And we appreciate the feedback you have provided us.

I know that is still not sufficient enough, however with the current situation that is happening all across this country has put many carriers against the wall with deliveries. Most of the trucks coming out of California that are performing the deliveries are fully loaded, and not able to pick up in other states that are on the same routes. We have been hoping that the trend would slow down at the end of summer, but it is just starting to. And that is not an excuse by any means for making this acceptable.

Now based on all the facts of the move you were picked up on July 22, 2021 and after pick up your belongings were then taken back to the hub and stored per your request. On August 17, 2021 you provided customer service with your new address for delivery and a first available delivery date (FADD) of August 27, 2021. An FADD means that the carrier can not deliver before that date, and sometimes in the busier months it may pose a delay from that date. Per our estimate each carrier has a tariff of the amount of time they have to deliver before they have to start compensating for the delay. This carrier has 30 business days from the FADD to deliver without offering compensation. Your 30th business day was October 8,2021. That means that after 10/8/21 the carrier is supposed to compensate you $30 per business day after that day till delivery is satisfied. I understand that he will be mailing that check to you directly, so that you retain the correct amount in case there are any delays in transit.

You had emailed your representative on 6/9 to change your dates and she then sent it back to customer service to reach out to you and make the changes. Our customer service team reached out and left you a voicemail message to contact us back to make those changes. When you called back your dates were changed and your verification was completed as well.On 6/29 you reached out to change your dates again, however we couldn’t make contact with you for 6 days to get those adjusted. We did make contact with your husband but he directed us to you. On 7/6 after an email and many calls to speak with you, we received a phone call from you and proceeded with the date change. Then on 7/14 you requested to change your dates again and we made contact with you on the 7/15 to make those changes, however at that time a date change fee was added on in the amount of $200. That was the third time you had changed your dates.

Our customer service department is concerned they have been in constant contact with you directly and through email, and they have gone above and beyond to help you through this process. But to say they are horrible because they don’t provide you with the answers you want is uncalled for. They can only provide you the update that they have available to them from the carrier. But calling into them everyday is not going to change the update received the previous day.

Now for the tool box they did not have the capability to transport and move a 2500lb commercial toolbox which is also considered freight, and not household goods. And based on your file that was not disclosed till 7/16/21. Then we couldn’t make contact with your husband till 7/20/21 by text message, and said that he couldn’t speak till the next day. All final estimates and job acceptance forms have to be provided to the carrier 2 days in advance, or all revisions are done onsite.

We would like to come to a happy medium to resolve this situation with you, but that would mean not yelling and cursing at our customer service team. I understand that our customer service manager spoke with you today, and sent you an email today about additional compensation after you hung up on her. Let’s please come to a happy resolution.

Sincerely
Quality Moving Experts

SCAM, INCOMPETENT Never delivered items, won’t return deposit

This company is a SCAM. In January Quality Moving Experts sent a moving company (Evergreen) that tried to upsell me and when I refused they left and did not come back - literally left me at my storage facility with fifty boxes. The second company (MissionTransportation) they sent the following week did not have any intention of delivering my items (though QME repeatedly told me my items had been packed on a truck awaiting delivery). For months I kept on Quality Moving Scammers and they kept assuring me my items were on the way.

After FOUR months and no delivery I located my goods in a warehouse in San Diego and hired another company to get them to Wisconsin. When my shipment arrived I found out someone had stolen my golf clubs (not fancy but they’re important to me). I have the photos and inventory with the clubs on them. They’ve not yet replaced my clubs.

Thankfully the subcontractor gave me a refund of my deposit and an apology for not delivering my belongings.

Unfortunately: After all the headaches and delays QME won’t do the same. QME is refusing to give me my deposit of $1034 back unless I sign a settlement agreement holding them harmless.

I’m not sure they’re even a moving company. THEY ARE A SCAM. Avoid this company at all costs.
